This page contains resources to use with students and for yourself for advisory. They make for great discussions!!!

The following comes from a neighboring district where the principal showed them this video:

One might ask students if SWHS has given students enough confidence that they could do this--if not, how could we do better?

Ask the students when do they think this will take place or how much of this is already taking place?

What do they envision schools to be like in 5 years? If they could be the director of technology now, how would they handle technology? Some schools are doing a bring your own technology? How would they handle that to make sure it was not misused?

This version is narrated with questions. Follow the questions and use them as guides. Then ask the students what do they think the iPhone10 will look like and when will it be ready?

Do you find that when you smile it makes others smile too?

She took a risk. What positive risk can you take this year?

How will you show caring to others today? tomorrow? when you are fifty?

What is YOUR passion?

What makes this so funny? What Tribes agreements did they follow? Could you write such a great speech? Find a partner or group and begin to write a funny, but one that is not putting anyone down graduation speech.

Extrovert or Introvert? Here's to the more reserved - a celebration of the assets of introverts.Josh Krause asked to have this on here and reminded us about how important it is to have this as a resource so be sure to look at this as it helps us understand more about those who are labeled introverts and to celebrate them rather than to change them. In here she calls to action to stop group work--well some kids like group work and some don't so here's an idea-- you have craft sticks per student-- and you have 2 cups--if they want to work as a group they put their craft sticks into the cup labeled group. If they want to work solo, they put their craft stick into the cup labeled solo. Then those who are working solo do just that--get to work solo. And those whose craft sticks are in the group cup, need to pair up or partner up somehow--you can do that blindly or you can do that knowingly (you're the teacher--figure that out! or ask your students to help!!)!!

These are letters that were on the comments area of the TED area that I thought were very valuable and should be included here. There is even a chart on how to help an Introvert!!!

Found this interesting activity to help students understand exclusion, meanness, respect, written well:
