One might ask students if SWHS has given students enough confidence that they could do this--if not, how could we do better?
Ask the students when do they think this will take place or how much of this is already taking place?

    2. that this be the place where advisors can leave questions and help each other out by shouting out ideas that they used with their group which might have worked.
Can Advisory Groups really help kids?
Unfortunately due to the conflict of the preschool, I can’t be an advisory leader so I have asked to be sort of a resource + cheerleader since I really do believe in this concept….
Recently, I had the opportunity to be part of an on line book club which was about a school in Boston which utilized the concepts of advisory groups. On the last day of the seminar with this author, she brought on one of the students and allowed us to ask questions of him. When asked about his time with the advisory group he only praised it. He talked about how it was like his second family. In fact, his leader actually on occasions brought his group home for Mexican night (Tacos) and then also took them on sponsored trips. It became a safe haven where he felt he could talk about anything.
Now we're not talking taking the kids to dinner or on trips but rather to give them 20 minutes of time to talk about "stuff" that is emotionally important to them.
While you did receive a "curriculum booklet", each meeting you might start out with the words, "Is there anything YOU guys would like to discuss? and if there is, and if it is appropriate and the majority agrees, use that as your forum for the day. And if you don't get through the curriculum booklet at all, that is okay. Remember, the kids are not going to be tested on this booklet.
In the meantime, as my part of the advisory committee and advisory mandate, I will continue to add to the log of resources here on this wiki so that if your activity fails, you will have an alternative to fall back on. Keep in mind the school TAG line whenever you use one of the alternative resources!!!!!

What else would you like to see on this wiki to help you?
BTW, if you find you are having fun with your group and you want to share that fun in photos and of course have their photo permissions--we can put their photos on this wiki which will just be shared via staff.

Extrovert or Introvert? Here's to the more reserved - a celebration of the assets of introverts.Josh Krause asked to have this on here and reminded us about how important it is to have this as a resource so be sure to look at this as it helps us understand more about those who are labeled introverts and to celebrate them rather than to change them. In here she calls to action to stop group work--well some kids like group work and some don't so here's an idea-- you have craft sticks per student-- and you have 2 cups--if they want to work as a group they put their craft sticks into the cup labeled group. If they want to work solo, they put their craft stick into the cup labeled solo. Then those who are working solo do just that--get to work solo. And those whose craft sticks are in the group cup, need to pair up or partner up somehow--you can do that blindly or you can do that knowingly (you're the teacher--figure that out! or ask your students to help!!)!!
{Letter to Introverts.docx} {Letter to Extrovert .docx} These are letters that were on the comments area of the TED area that I thought were very valuable and should be included here. There is even a chart on how to help an Introvert!!!
Found this interesting activity to help students understand exclusion, meanness, respect, written well:
